We are driving in early July from Talloires France to Sestri Levante likely through Turin. It is a long
drive and we are looking for a lovely place to stop, possibly overnight to enjoy along the way.
We will be driving back to Geneve and also looking for a place to enjoy along that route as well.
We are open to recommendations on best routes and any areas to take a slight detour to make the drives memorable.

if you happen to be driving generally south east of Annecy, consider driving via the col du galibrier, we drove from briancon to annecy via this road, after it was re opened , around june for memory. the snow ( that was in some places 3m thick on the edge of the road) and scenery was just breath taking, something that we will remember for ever.

We went through the Frejus tunnel and down the Val di Susa. Not at all hard and very pretty. If you're going round trip, when we went there was a discount for a round trip through the same tunnel within a week. The town of Susa makes a nice break. You could stay in Bra or Alba or Asti and enjoy a small Piedmont city. They are about 3-4 hours from the CT.
PS Near Annecy, the Les Gorges du Fier is fantastic.
