We are staying in apartments through our 15 days in Italy. We are currently in Venice and have been drinking water from the sink. Is it bad to do so? At resturants we order the bottle, but have a lot at the apartment to stay hydrated.
We were in Venice and some of the smaller towns/villages of Italy for almost the entire month of June. We all drank tap water with no adverse effects.
You've answered your own question. You drink the water; you're okay. Relax. You're paying in the restaurants and it's hard to avoid, so get bottles with bubbles. Equally sanitary: Wine; beer. Enjoy.
The water in Italy is fine..... as you have probably figured out because you are not sick. In most of Europe, the water is safe. For additional info, check out this map of drinkable water.
There are some suggestions that some water standards in Europe are higher than the US. We have drank it for twenty plus years with no ill effects except for a strong yearning to return for more water.
