Drinking and driving in Italy whats the legal limit?

I have a very strict rule of not drinking at all when driving. When I was in Italy in April I had a glass of wine with dinner and once 2 glasses at a winery over the course of several hours. With Italians always drinking wine with their food I wonder what the legal limit is? Does anyone know this? I am returning to Italy next month and would like to be prepared. Thanks

I think this is basically one glass of wine with a meal for an average size woman. That's my rule at least - if I drive I may have one glass with food and water and also with time to digest after.

Due to pubblic pressure, Italian government has recently stepped up punishment for accidents with casualties. If you cause an accident and you are found drunk, they will basically throw away the key. A lawyer has argumented that deliberately running over a person now has a lighter penalty than running over a person after drinking.

Yet another reason not to rent a car but to rely on walking and public transportation. 0.05 is something like one glass of wine every two hours.
