Dress sizes in Italy

Hi. Last minute help as we leave for Italy tomorrow. Our 20 year old daughter...size zero in Canadian sizes 26 inch waist loves italian fashion, and we'd like to buy her some nice clothes in italy. I'm wondering how we sort out the sizes in Italy. Dress sizes, also language for "small" in blouses etc. Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks...

Tim,

If you're daughter is a "0" in US/Canada sizes then she will be about the same here - Perhaps a 2! Sizes tend to run smaller here than in the US. With her size she can wear almost anythng off the rack in Italy!

I would not worry about the word for small (piccolo)as most are marked "S" and you'll see on many pieces of clothing 3-4 different sizes relating to US, UK, Europe, etc.

There are many "outlets" in Rome she may be interested in... Outlets here are not the same as back in the States - here they are usually high-end designer clothes marked down. You can get some great prices on Armani, Gucci, Prada, etc in these "outlets"... And then of course there's the Prada Outlet near Florence just off A-1.

Need more info send me a private message with your email and I'll forward back a list... She will have a great time shopping in Italy! My wife does every day :(

Ciao,
Ron

you could take her measurements in centimetres and give them to the sales clerk or just bring a tape measure with you. this might be the easiest/most accurate method. by the way one inch equals 2.54 centimetres.

It sounds like she would wear a 36 or 38 in Italy. Sizes run small here so you shouldn't have a hard time finding things to fit her. Plus many of the styles use stretchy fabrics that can work on anyone.
