We are headed to Dresden,Germany for a Worl Cup game and then want to head to Austria for a quick trip maybe see some of the mountain region and then on to Italy. We have about 12-14 days. any suggestions on itinerary? We are traveling with a 12 yr old child!

Well, I went to Berchtesgaden to see The Eagle's Nest, thats in a little bit of Germany that juts into Austrian. Great place, beautiful views!

Do you watch Rick Steves' (or anyone else's) travel programs, or have you read any guidebooks? You can watch his programs on this website. We'll need some kind of guidance...do you want to be outdoors as much as possible to hike? Are you museum nuts (do you know if you are yet?), huge beer fanatics, and/or want to use trains or cars as transportation? Does your boy or girl have any particular interests? Soccer is on someone's list, apparently...;-) Have you ever been to Europe before?
