Domus Aurea visit

I am wondering if anyone could provide feedback if they've visited the Domus Aurea (Nero's Golden Palace) fairly recently. The official website describes a sort of virtual reality experience involving some type of headgear with video to create a virtual reality. Is this the only option? Wondering what that experience is like. Also, my understanding is you sign up for/book a ticket for a specific time. Guided visits only. i'm assuming they provide the guide onsite if you book a ticket directly through coopculture.it. And, if I'm reading the information correctly, looks like they're only open Friday-Sunday?
Thanks for any help with this.

We did this last year and it was fantastic! There is a guided tour and then it ends with a chance to sit on little benches, put on virtual reality glasses, and "walk" around. It's very cool and we loved it.

Valerie, do you remember how far in advance you booked your entry time. My trip isn’t until September but Domus Aurea is a must see on my itinerary.
Thanks!

The tickets are really limited so I did one of my crazy countdown tickers that get me a lot of grief around the house. So I just check the ticket sales everyday with my free time;)

Thanks so much for that feedback. Super helpful! I'm going to book tickets for sure, now. I'll be doing the same- watching for the tickets to be available online for purchase. Thanks again! Looking forward to visiting this place, now.
