Dolomites Ski Trip - Car needed?

Hello!

My girlfriend and myself are coming for a 3 week European ski trip and are in need of some advice for our trip to the dolomites. We are wanting to stay in a refugio for a night or two and are struggling with if we need a car to get around. Not needing a car would be a big plus. We would also need to either leave our bags in a hotel we will be staying at later on or in our car. If anyone has experience skiing in the dolomites and can recommend the best way to get around that would be fantastic!

We are hoping to ski the hidden valley, do the sella ronda, and would like to be on the sella ronda for easy access.

Itinerary below:

1/11: Land in MUC around 10am

1/12: Munich

1/13: Salzburg

1/14 Salzburg

1/15: St Anton

I think it would depend on what rifugio you are looking at. Some are at the top of cable cars, some are on the highway with bus service or have access via a service road. Do they have meals included? I would assume you would get around on skis. There are many hotels in the towns along the Sella Ronda.

Hey Sam,

Were hoping to stay in one with ski in/ski out accommodations. Potentially Rifugio Lagazuoi or one near by. Take the cable car/chair lift up. And yes at least breakfast is included but may have to purchase dinner separate.

I know you can get a bus as far as Armentarola and a taxi from there to Passo Falzarego and then the cable car up to to the Rifugio. You should be able to haul all your gear on the cable car. During the day, there are fleets of taxis taking people up to Passo Falzarego to ski the "Hidden Valley".

This site will show you the train and bus schedules from Innsbruck Hbf to Armenterola.
