We (3 couples) plan to travel to the Dolomites next summer/early fall to hike. We're looking for a good tour company offering self-guided tours for 5-7 days, meaning we don't need a guide with us, but want some of the logistics taken care of, like reservations in rifugios or hotels (or combination) and transportation. Any recommendations?

There are a number of companies that offer self-guided hiking trips in the Dolomites, some village-based and some hut ti hut. Two that I know friends have used are Mac’s Adventures and Distant Journeys.

We have only done a guided hiking tour there, or independent travel, so I cannot offer personal recommendations on tour companies for self-guided hiking. I can, however, recommend a really great private guide if you book your own accommodations in the Alta Badia town of Colfosco or Corvara.

We've also used Macsadventures for several self guided hiking trips, and they are great. If you plan to do the Dolomites, it would be important to make your decision on dates soon and get your trip booked. The figugios book up quickly.
Macs has several choices for hiking the Dolomites, and they can customize your trip as well if you have a special need. They have offices based in Glasgow for the EU and in Boulder, CO for the US customers.
We just finished 2 trips using them in Portugal and before that we hiked in France, Scotland and Ireland using Macs.

Thanks to both for the recommendation for Macs Adventure - they look great. And I like the idea of guides through a hotel as well. Both options should work for us in combination. And yes I realize we need to book our trip very soon!
