Is it worth it to spend a couple days in the Dolomites area around the end of March? If yes, where's a great place to stay?
Yep, I was wondering the same thing, for the tail end of ski season (I don't), late March/early April. I had asked about Bolzano in another thread. Saw a YouTube on the train ride through the Brenner Pass on the Innsbruck/Bolzano run, and it looks neat indeed.
I've read that gondola's are shut down and there is still a fair amount of snow at higher elevations. I'd LOVE to see the Italian Alps/Dolomites first hand, but am second guessing my choice for a couple of days in Bolzano (as my HQ).
I'm looking for a place to visit, that I (and my small group) can get to by train or train + bus, get my fix of big mountains and little towns and do it all in 2 days before moving on to Venice.
