dolomites in italy

We are spending 10 days in Levanto Italy in October. We thought we'd take the train up north and check-out the dolomites. Does anyone have any recommendations as to where to stay. We like/prefer it somewhat quiet, secluded, if that's possible. We would appreciate any suggestions as to where to stay or what to see. We love the mountains and lakes.

A secluded town? Or hotel?
The Dolomites are above, north of Lake Garda.
We loved staying in Ortisei at Hotel Grones, set on a hillside above the town.
We stayed in two different towns on Laje Garda, one going up to Ortisei and the other when we left The Dolomites. Saló at Hotel Belvedere and Il Castello in Malcesine.

Thanks!!! To answer your question, just secluded, in general. Quiet, as few other travelers as possible.

Dolmites you would need a car and a more extended stay. Bolzano [e.g., rental from Hertz at the airport] from Levanto would take a little under 6.5 hours on 4 trains.

“Secluded” in the Dolomites could mean a mountain rifugio. Would you want rustic?

There will be other travelers in any of the towns (or anywhere you stay) but they are not raucous destinations by any means. One of the quietest places we have eve stayed, though, is in the Alpe di Siusi. Look at Hotel Saltria or Alpenhotel Panorama. Both are half-pension, breakfast and dinner included.
