Dolomites in early april

Hi! I really want to visit dolomites but im not sure where to stay or what to visit simply because of the lack of lifts and people saying many rifugios are closed for hiking. I would be more than happy just to explore nature in the nearby area and/or if possible still be able to go for a day hike near my accommodation.

I need suggestions because my trip is soon and i forgot all about it until recently going over my itinerary.
Thank you to everyone in advance

The only hiking would be on the roads or sunny areas on the valley floor or with snowshoes. By mid-May you can hike the hills. June is the earliest the mountains are enjoyable at altitude.

The via Ferrara's above Rival del Garda might be worth checking they are at low altitude

Have you decided where to stay? You can stay in the Alpe di Siusi and do some day hikes, weather permitting, there. We like Hotel Saltria as well as Alpenhotel Panorama. You can also take a bus (the #10) from Siusi or Castelrotto up to the Alpe di Siusi. You cannot enter the AdS in a car between 9:00 and 17:00 unless you are staying there.

Meant to say, there are trails even when there is snow. No snowshoes required.
