Dolomites day trip from Bolzano

Hello - we have 1 full day from Bolzano to explore the Dolomites. It's our first time to Italy and prefer to take public transportation. We would like to visit Seceda Ridgeline - I believe bus #350 to Ortisei/Urtijëi and cable car will get us there. We will be traveling with my youngest who is 11 y.o. and probably not hike more than 1-2 hrs at each stop.

Has anyone done similar day trip to Dolomites that could share their experience? Would you recommend adding another stop or 2 before heading back to Bolzano? Thank you.

I wouldn't add another place on this day trip since you have to take into account the bus schedule and how you know when it is time to leave during your visit to Seceda. Some parts of Seceda are up hill walking.

If it works out with your bus schedule, you could include a visit to Alpe di Siusi after Seceda. The lift is located on the opposite side of the valley in Ortisei: https://throneandvine.com/alpe-di-siusi-hiking-guide/. Consider a short circuit hike to a couple of the huts located near the top of the lift station. The views are incredible!

To piggyback on this question, we'll be in the Dolomites for three nights/2 full days in mid June. Traveling with my kids (twins-- age 12) and my older, active parents and my husband and I. We're staying in Ortisei. Would it be crazy to do a short hike on either Seceda or Alpe di Siusi one of our mornings and then head down to Bolzano in the mid to late afternoon to meet Otzi the ice guy?

Or.... would it be better, weather permitting, to have full day for Seceda; a full day for Alpe di Siusi, and then hit Otzi on our drive down to Venice?

Thanks for your input!
