We will be staying in Castelrotto May 28-31 this year and looking to take
a couple easy hikes in the Alpe di Siusi. Can anyone comment on the
lifts working on those dates and the expected weather> Thank you.

My wife and I spent three nights in Castelrotto, May 20-23, 2014. Some of the higher trails were not yet open, because they were still covered in snow. The lifts up from the lower parking areas were not operating either, but that meant we could drive to higher parking lots in the Alpi di Suisi to access the trails that were open. Many of the (shorter) lifts from this level were operating, but we didn't use them, as we were there to hike anyway. We got great info from our innkeeper about what was open each day, including the gasthausen along the trails (after all, what's a hike without a beer with a view?). We had two wonderful days of hiking, and the driving loop through the Sella and Gardena passes was also breathtaking. The town of Castelrotto itself was pleasantly quiet at the time, with some restaurants and shops closed for their between season break. That was a particularly late spring; what's open and usable will depend on the weather they get this year. You'll be a good week later, so you should have plenty available to you. Enjoy!
