Quick question: In May, are the trails around Alpe di Siusi in the Dolomites still too muddy from snowmelt to allow much hiking? We'd likely be there in the last half of the month if we go, probably somewhere between May 21 and May 25. Thanks!

I was there at the end of May 2008 and the trails were in very good shape. I don't know if they had average snowfall that winter.

We were there in the first week of May last year - the trails are all open, but snows are still on the ground. That gave us a wonderful feeling - temperature was in the 60's and saw alpine snow around us. The ski lifts are all closed though, but hiking in pleasant weather is great!
