Dolomites

I want to thank whoever suggested going to the Val Gardena. It turned out to be the trip of a lifetime for my wife and myself. Even planning to return next summer. Staying in the town of Selva was an excellent base. Had a great trip to Italy 🇮🇹 . The Val Gardena is even more beautiful than the Swiss alps. And more organized if you can believe that.

Happy to hear you had a great trip. Beginning to fear we are creating the next Cinque Terre by recommending the Val Gardena so much. At least cruise ships won't be coming in.

Dolomites is a fantastic place for nature lovers. We are just back from a second stay in the Dolomites, and I haven't even gone up to Val Gardena.
We stayed in around Cortina D'Ampezzo and did a lot of the surroundings
First year we had gone to hikes at Tre Cime di Lavaredo, spend an hour around beautiful Lago di Braies and gone to Canazei and ortisei as well
This year, did some hikes in the Cinque Torri which was unbelievable and Lagazuoi 15 minutes from Cinque Torri.
I guess I'll have to go back to visit the Val Gardena region. :-)

Another great thing was the lack of Americans there. Hopefully it stays that way for awhile.

So glad you had a great time! The Dolomites have had few Americans since I started going in the early 90s. I still remember the first time I met an American there somewhere around 2001...she was beside herself because she couldn't find anyone who spoke English and couldn't wait to get out of there! I wished her well and watched her get on a bus. I can't wait to go back in September!
