I visited the Western side of the dolomites last year – homebase was in Castlerotto. This year looking to stay in the north or eastern side of the Dolomites. Any suggestions? We like to hike.

We visited the area around Bolzano about 2 years ago haad a great time, and then went to Slovenia. Right across the border from Italy in the far northern part of both countries, (close to Austria) you;ll find the Planica Slovenia Ski Jump training facility. (Very near Ratece) It's very interesting, as well as relatively close to the location of finding the remains of Otzy the IceMan, who is now residing in Bolzano in an Archaeology museum. The forests and National Parks of both countries are beautiful. Happy hiking.
