We are planning a roadtrip in early October for four days between Bolzano and Cortina. Any thoughts?
It is only a 2 to 3 hour drive, depending the route you choose. What do you like to do in mountainous areas?
We would like to stay in a chalet in an quiet town and sightsee the mts.
San Cassiano is very small, quiet, sweet. Perhaps a good stop and certainly a beautiful drive if you come through the Val Gardena and over the Passo Gardena. Nice little non# strenuous hike from Passo Gardena to the Jimmy Hutte. You can also stop in the little Val Gardena towns along the way and from San Cassiano there are lifts and hikes.
We stayed here several years ago and it was really nice, great area. We enjoyed an early October visit for some hiking. Im not sure if the same owners are there but they were very helpful during our stay, but as I said it was several years back. The owner actually drove us to the Col Raiser so we could take the tram up the mountain and hike back down to our apartment. They are located in Selva/Wolkenstein http://www.risaccia.it/index_e.html
