Looking for recommendations for a city/place to stay for 2 nights in the Dolomites in May. Someplace that is drivable to. Thank you.
Ortisei is nice.
We discovered San Candido on the north portion of the Dolomites and loved it. Sesto/Sexten is also amazing (same area)
We splurged and stayed a week at ([email protected] ) Leitlhof Nature Hotel. Best food we have ever eaten.
Mind you we have never done a Michelin rated restaurant. There are good roads serving the area.
I highly recommend you to stay for more nights. It's because driving in the area takes time and that the weather is fickle. You may or may not have two full days of sun.
Ortesei, Santa Cristina Val Gardena, and Selva are all close to each other. There are numerous lifts from this area up into the mountains. Ortesei seems to be the most expensive of the three for lodging.
Val di Funes is a wonderful place to stay in May. Plenty of hiking and biking opportunities and the views will be extra breathtaking as the valley will be a rolling river of green. Some of the most iconic sights in the Dolomites are located here: https://throneandvine.com/val-di-funes/ I recently stayed at Lippmöshof and loved it. The owner also offers guided hikes and the sunrises from my apartment's balcony were unforgettable.
Thank you for your ideas!
