While staying at Castelrotto, we took a bus up to Alpa di Siusi. It is lovely, fairly flat, walking trail with great views. I said "trail" but I think there are many variations that can be done. You may also be able to get a bus up there from Bolzano. Google it and see if you think your joints are up to doing it.

Take the Col Raiser lift from Santa Cristina Val Gardena. No hiking needed for amazing views. The mountains look like you can reach out and touch them.

The Seceda lift brings you to stunning views from Ortesei. Go all the way to the top.

The Mont Seuc lift from Ortesei bring you to a great view of the Alpe di siusi meadow with the mountains in the background.

All of these views are completely different. All are worth while. You’ll have great views right off the lifts, or you can walk a bit for more views.

I agree with TC. There is a little group of restaurants, shops etc at the area of Compatsch. You can walked paved trails/roads if you like or sit with a drink and look at the gorgeous mountains. Our Best of Italy tour bus was able to take us up to the area due to the time of year but there is also a cable car you can ride up from Seiser Alm which deposits you right at Compatsch.

You will definitely want to visit the high mountain plateau of Alpe di Siusi. It is surrounded by some of the Dolomites' most iconic peaks. There are a number of hotels on the plateau or you can stay in the valleys and take a lift to reach it. Around the villages of Ortisei and Seis makes a great base. Here are details on how to visit and enjoy gentle hiking across the alp: https://throneandvine.com/alpe-di-siusi-hiking-guide/ Another easy hiking plateau option is Prato Piazza, which is also near the famous Lago di Braies. You could visit Braies in the morning and then Prato Piazza in the afternoon: https://throneandvine.com/prato-piazza-platzwiese/
