Dolomite’s northern Italy itinerary questions

We are planning to be in Italy for 2+ weeks in September, flying into Venice and out of Florence. We are thinking
3 nights Venice
3 nights Cortina
4 nights Ortisei
2 nights Bologna
3 nights Florence
We plan on hiking in the Dolomites. Is Cortina good or should we stay in San Candido instead or somewhere else?
Is Ortisei a good base to hike Alpe de Suisi, Seceda and other suggestions? Can we day trip to Val di Funes from there?
If we stay in Cortina is Cristallo worth the splurge or Hotel de Lens?
Any input on Bologna? Other suggestions for 2 nights with good food and history etc?
Thank you for any feedback.

I'll plug Sesto/ Sexten
we drove through Cortina on a whim and ended up there
Feels very different ,more northern European .
The drive over is eye popping and I have been to Norway and the Rockies
Lots of great trails and we stumbled onto.

If we had more time would have summit one if the bigger peaks but it was mid Oct and the days were short

Ortisei is definitely where you want to be to hike Seceda and Alpe di Siusi. The lifts are right in town for both.

Thank you , both. Richard would you do Sesto for 3 and skip Cortina or 1/2?

Sesto is great Cortina is wonderful, choose one for 3 nites. Ortisei for 4 nites is really good, many many options for hiking/walking.
