Dolomite day trip from Venice?

Hello,
Rick Steves recommends some of the Avventure Bellissime Venice Tours in his Italy guide; however, when perusing their website I found a small group (8ppl) day trip to the Dolomites and Cortina from Venice. Has anyone done this or something similar? It appears to be about a 9 hour day (including a 2 hour commute each way). The scenery looks beautiful. I am taking my two daughters (ages 18 and 23) to Venice in June and we plan to take in all the must-see sights during our first day and then would have another day to fill. I am considering day trips to the lagoon islands, Lido beach or the Dolomites. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Beth

Forget the Lido. If you only have two days in Venice, stay in Venice! You barely have enough time there to see it.

I very much agree with Suki's advice. Use both of your days in Venice. So much to see and do, especially if this is your first time there. Maybe a daytrip to nearby Murano or Burano.
