dolimites italy in September

I am thinking of a trip to the Dolimites in Italy in September 2015.
The basic plan is to spend a week hiking by cable car up and walk around and down.

But my experience in France was that the cable cars stop running September 1.
Is this true in Italy? Any suggestions on where to find the cable car schedules
for September?

Also any suggestions for the best moderate difficultly hikes?

Thanks
Garrett

There will be a difference in the number of cable cars running between the first week and last week of September. By mid to late Sept., most will be closing, but not all. The Seiser Alm/Mont Seuc cable car from Ortisei to the Seiser Alm/Alpe Di Siusi, the Lagazuoi cable car at the Falzarego Pass and I think one in the Seiser Alm/Alpe di Siusi stay open until mid October.

Have a look for schedules, if out yet, at:

Also, in the next valley over, in the Alta Badia:

We were in Moena (loved our time there!) in Val di Fassa two years ago in September. The gondola at Vigo di Fassa was running with good hiking in the area at all levels.

We enjoyed staying at Hotel Monza in Moena - very friendly staff and nice location above the church on the edge of town with great views.
