I want to do a self guided tour of the Doges Palace while in Venice. Should I order my tickets ahead of time or just get them at the Palace?

We just got home last week from Italy and getting advance tickets for sites was one of the best things we did. At numerous sites, the "without advance tickets" or "without reservation" lines were really long and I was grateful we got to either walk in or wait in a very small line. We saved a lot of time and sanity!
So I would definitely get a ticket ahead of time.
