Doges Palace - Secret Itinerary Tour

We are traveling to Venice with two teenage boys (18 and 15) in June 2013. We plan to see Doge's Palace but are wondering if the Secret Itinerary Tour is worth fitting in our schedule.

I'd say definitely yes, with teenage boys. Assuming they're not totally enthralled with art or architecture, I think it would be the part that would most appeal to them. You see cells tucked under the roof, etc. Since you're going in June, you might want to pick an early time. It was really hot in those areas of the palace in late September, and apparently they don't do the tours when it gets really hot.

When I took the tour, there were a couple of teens on it and they enjoyed it, along with everyone else. There's lots of off-the-beaten-track information. It's a small group, so there's more opportunity for Q&A, too. I recommend taking fans and cold water with you. It gets pretty hot up there in the summer. You do have to book in advance. The tours fill up.
