Is it too late to wait until we are in our hotel in Venice to ask the hotel reception people to help us book a tour to the Doges' Palace (especially the Secret Itineraries) or should we book in advance before we travel to Italy? I don't want to miss out! Thanks! Ruth
I wouldn't wait. It is just so much easier to have things like that, which are your must-dos in Venice, taken care of rather than spending precious time on it once there.
Hi Nancy, thanks for your reply. Good advice.
I was thinking, however, that since we will be on a RS tour, I am not sure of the time frame we will have to visit the palace. To my understanding, we will need to book a specific time, correct? So, hmmmmmm I will need some additional advice from someone who has been on an RS tour. Also, I guess this would pertain to other additional things we might want to see as well during our free time. Buon viaggio! Ruth
The tours in English begin at 9.55; 10.45; 11.35. They last for about 1.25 hours. It is hard to know how quickly any given tour will sell out. The farther you are into summer, the faster the tours will fill up, as a rule.
Thanks, Everyone, for your advice! My dilemma is that since we will be on an RS tour, I don't know when our free time will be to schedule the sites we want to see on our own that aren't included on the tour. Is it possible/likely that the hotel managers be able to get us an appointment for the sites when we are there? Ruth
Hi Ruth, We were in Venice with RS tour in 2007. Our only full day, we had a morning walking tour with local guide Elisabetta which ended in Piazza San Marco (or close to it) mid - morning and the rest of the day was free time. I would phone ETBD re: Venice schedule to see if it has changed. I would think that the 11:35 am tour would work just fine for you. We will be there again April 21 for 3 nights and just can't wait. Enjoy the morning bells. Sherry
