Doge's Palace tickets

Hello, I would like to visit the doge's Palace on my October trip to Venice and I have a question about tickets in the age of COVID. The palace website only lets you buy 10 tickets at a time and mentions you have to be a guide. Obviously not for the regular traveler. The other option is a timed combo ticket with the San Marcos museum for 26 euros. Is it possible to just buy a ticket to the doge's Palace at the door? I'm not staying long in Venice and would prefer not to buy combo ticket to San Marcos museum as I want to spend most of my time outside walking around. Thank you!!

An option you may want to look into is booking a 'Walks of Italy' tour in Venice. They have (or had, pre-COVID) different ones which combine Doges Palace and San Marco Basilica, and a behind-the-scenes' look/itinerary for Doges. We did the former and found it time and money well spent; as the tour includes entry into venue/s, and is hosted by a knowledgable guide. What we also found beneficial was not having to wait in general entry line (~60-min estimate), with the tour you walk right past and can save that time and energy on other sites.

I haven't taken the Secret Itineraries tour at the Doge's Palace, but it gets a lot of positive comments on this forum. I think you can buy a single ticket for that tour and avoid standing in the long ticket line. However, in the pre-COVID era the Secret Itineraries tours sold out far in advance, and it may already be too late to get October tickets.

Thank you everyone!! Looks like one of the tours is the way to go. I did find out that there isn't a ticket just to the Doge's Palace online. You only have the option to buy the St. Mark's combo ticket for @ 26 Euro (including internet transaction fee).

I have 2 teens with me. Do they just bring their student IDs to prove they're students for lower cost entry or do they need something else?

I’m interested in the Secret Itineraries tour. Although I don’t need tickets this year, I wanted to check out the website. I checked the “buy” button and it looks like tickets are only available for March and April, unless I’m wrong. Do they offer them for dates that are further out?
Would I book the ITINERARI SEGRETI ON DEMAND? The ITINERARI SEGRETI - INGLESE sounds like it is for museums.

We did the Secret Itinerary tour in August and found it interesting and really worth while. At the end, you are left in one of the other rooms to browse as you like. The Secret Itinerary tour allows you to enter at a different door and thus not stand in a long line. The tickets are only available a certain number of days ahead of time and I marked my calendar to buy them. I recall I bought them in July for our August trip. The price was not much more than the cost to the Doje Palace, since it was bundled with other sites.

The only disadvantage is that you don’t have a guide for the rest of the palace which would have been helpful. I had done some research and watched some videos but still found it a bit overwhelming. So the tours others have referenced would give you that but not the Secret Itinerary part.

Obviously the only solution is multiple trips to Venice!

Beth,
Thank you for clarifying the timing of ticket purchase. I’ll mark my calendar!
