I already booked a reservation for the Basilica di San Marco. What site do I use to book for the Doge's Palace? It seems the sites I have been visiting require a credit card too in adition to reserving the tickets. I know there are 2 types of tours but am just trying to reserve the time but not pay until I am there. I will be going the end of October 2008. Thanks

I'm also doing research for my upcoming trip. I haven't seen anywhere that suggests you need to reserve to see the Doge's Palace. If you want to add the "Secret Itineraries Tour" everyone says you must book it in advance. Some folks say it is not to be missed and some thought it was a waste of time and money. Try searching under the Italian name - Palazzo Ducale.

I don't know if there is a site that just lets you book the time without purchasing the ticket. We booked the Secret Itineraries tour for our trip in October through the "official" museum site.

Just get in line 20 minutes before the palace opens, and you'll be in in no time. Especially that time of year. We did that in July, beat the crowds and the heat, and were actually through the tour and enjoying a coffee in the bar inside by the time the masses began to pour in. And Piazza San Marco is so beautiful early in the morning...
