Doge's Palace Secret Itineraries

I'm making a return trip to Venice next month, and have tickets for the Doge's Palace Secret Itineraries tour. I couldn't get tickets for this tour last time, so we did a self-guided tour instead. I know it takes about an hour and a quarter. As this is my daughter's first trip to Venice, I'm wondering if we should allow extra time so she can see parts of the Palace not covered on the tour. If so, how much time? We'd like to book tickets for San Marco afterward.

Thanks.

I just did this tour in the past month. The guided tour only covers the rooms/areas that are only accessible with a licensed guide. The tour ends at the entrance to the main museum of the palace and they leave you to make your own way through at your own pace. I spent about another 2 hours in the museum.

Yes, definitely spend time exploring the "public" areas of the palace after your guided tour. Budget a minimum of an hour, although I think I spent more time than that. The secret itineraries tour is great!

I've done that tour twice, at different times of the year. Part of the tour takes you up to the highest levels of the palace, just under the roof. In mid-summer it will be HOT up there. I was very glad to have a folding paper fan with me. And water!
