Does Trenitalia give 30% disc on advance purchase of Europass

I am considering buying a europass, but when i figure out the cost of indiv tickets and factor in the 30% discount if I purchase them in advance, it works out cheaper to buy indiv tickets. Does anyone know if the europass 5 day is discounted for advance purchases as well?
Also, what type of trains are you able to go on with the Italy only Europass? Can you do the "R" (regional trains) also?
Thanks for the help!

There is no discount for buying a Eurail Italy pass in advance. The pass is good on all Trenitalia trains. You will have to pay a seat reservation fee of 10.00 EUR on high speed EuroStar Italia trains and 3.00 EUR on IC trains. No seat reservations are possible on Regionale trains. Just jump on any train (no extra charge) and take any available seat.

The pass is not good on private railways like the Circumvesuviana that runs between Naples and Sorrento.

The bigger question is whether or not the Trenitalia site will accept your credit card for online booking. While your card will work in station ticket machines in Italy, it is likely to be rejected when you try to book online in order to get either a Meno 30 or Meno 15 fare.
