Hello folks.
We will be travelling in early June from Interlaken, Switzerland to the Lake Como area, likely via Milan. We are looking to stay in Bellano, a lesser touristy area just north of Varrena. I've found that the train goes directly to Varrena. Does anyone know if the train continues to Bellano? Or do we need to ferry/bus it?

Yes. They proceed to Sondrio and Tirano.
Nice. I know that you can take the local ferry to Bellagio. Bellagio is a main hub and attractive due to its placement in the middle of the lake. I would not take the train to Bellagio, I would go by Ferry to to the time. Como by boat is the easiest and most time sensitive way to travel. It has lots of hotel options. Although the price point in Bellagio may be a bit more than other towns, it is a great place to taste lake Como. From there you can jump on the Ferry to other towns in Como as well.

Just to clarify, Bellagio does not have rail access. The quickest way to reach Bellagio is to take the train to Varenna and then the short (~20 minute) Ferry ride to Bellagio. The Ferry ride is much longer from Como.
I'm actually trying to reach Bellano by train, not Bellagio. I've heard that the rail continues to Bellano (from Varrena), but when trying to find tickets via trenitalia.com I'm not seeing Bellano as a destination option. Maybe we'll stay in Varrena for the night and ferry across the following day?

Hi Nicole. The name of the stop is 'Bellano-Tartavalle Terme'. On trenitalia.com, if you type 'Bell' in the destination station, it will appear as a selection. It is the next stop after Varenna. Enjoy your trip!
It is important to know that some Italian cities have names that are somewhat similar. In this case both are on Lake Como and not a long distance from each other. Bellano has train service and boat service, Bellagio has boat service and does not have train service.
So the answer, given above, is that yes Bellano has a frequent service down into Milano.
