Trying to find the impossible. Hotel/pension/air bnb for family of 5 in Florence Easter weekend. When my husband and I went to Italy in 1995 (!!!) we followed Rick's guides and stayed in his recommended pensions. Do Florence still have those? How do I find? Kids are adults so we can stay in separate room. Last big family trip together
Have you reviewed RS newest version of his Italy guidebook? Perhaps you will find new recommendations there. Or, I often look in Booking.com and use the filters to find a place and then try to book directly with the pension/BnB. Often, Booking.com will provide a link to the accommodation website (if they have one).
I just wanted to mention that I had what I thought was "the last big family trip together" as well. Much to my surprise and delight, I still travel with family members every year and my children are in their late 30's early 40's. We don't all go together which actually works out for better trips for us, but I take one trip with each child and his/her family every year.
So, don't think that this is necessarily the "last chance." You may have many wonderful trips still ahead of you.
I stayed in Florence on a RS tour last September. We stayed at the Hotel Torre Guelfa

We use VRBO or Airbnb for most of our travels and have had no real issues. I have just checked the Airbnb site for Florence and found a number of apartments available over Easter weekend (used random dates of April 6 - 10). Alot will depend on your budget.
Yes, Rick does have recommendations from $ to $$$$ in his new Italy book. Listed by location with several choices from simple B and B’s through major hotel. So, it does depend on your budget and what you are expecting for services.
Thanks for replies. So if I want a "pension" in particular, I should look on Bookings.com (or similar site) under bed and breakfasts? I have found a nice Airbnb and might go ahead with it.
When I say last family trip, I mean, hopefully last big one where we pay for it all! Ha! And before spouses/partners come on the scene. Middle daughter studying abroad in Rome this semester so we are visiting her.
