Does my itinerary smell?

Ok- here's my perspective honeymoon itinerary. Does it smell good or bad? I want to go hard, but not spaz out so much that we travel the whole time and don't get to enjoy ourselves. Would so appreciate your thoughts.

We're spry, go-getters who love hiking, art, and food. We don't drink so no wine stuff, we won't be cool like that.

10/5 Land in Verona midday sleep in Verona

10/6 Rent Car in Verona and drive to Ortisei via northern Lake Garda (Alternatively, we could skip Garda and train to Ortisei. Thoughts?

10/6, 10/7 sleep in Ortisei, hike via lifts

(Should we have the car, we may extend dolomites one more day to drive to Cortina area and hike tre cime...worth it?)

10/8 night Return Car to Verona and train to Venice (Or just train to Venice in Bolzano) sleep in Venice

10/9 and 10/10 Venice

10/10 train at night to Florence

10/10, 10/11, 10/12 sleep in Florence

10/13 Either Rent Car or take Bus to Siena

10/13, 10/14, 10/15 Siena with trips into the countryside (Is Siena the best base for hilltowns? Should we rent a car in Florence for Southern Tuscany? Or should we rent in Siena? Or is it best to just rent a car for a day trip? I've been told over and over again to that Tuscany must be experienced via car, but I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around what itinerary makes the most sense (and financial sense, we're not loaded and I can only drive an automatic. #american)

10/16 Train to Cinque Terre

10/16, 10/17 Sleep in Cinque Terre

10/18 train to Rome

10/18-10/23 Sleep in Rome (Is this too much time in Rome? If so, is there somewhere we should give more time to above?)

Leave early morn 10/24

Ok this is a disorganized mess but you get the idea. Would so love your thoughts all.

I like the plan too, the only tweak for me would be to return the first (and only, don't drive in Siena) car not in Verona, but in Venice. This will save some logistics complexity and will give you a chance to drive through the Dolomites

Well planned, enjoy your trip.

I recommend the Hotel Balesteri in Florence. It a medium sized hotel on the Arno, great location, great fares.

I always rent a car in Tuscany and Umbria ,so, yes, to having a car in Siena. It is the best option for exploring the small towns and villages. Drive on SR 222, the Chiantigiana - Greve, Panzano, Castellina, Radda etc. Siena has plenty of parking.
Ortisei is a stunning town! Enjoy your time there too.

For me, stinky. You have one full day in Ortisei. What if it rains? Ditto the Cinque Terre. Drop one and add the nights to the other. There is no such thing as too much time in Rome.
