We will be traveling from Innsbruck to visit relatives in northern Italy on the 31st of this month. I just received notification from OEBB that the Italian railway workers will be striking all day on the 31st, all 24 hours.
We can't leave on the 30th, and if we delay our departure until the 1st, we will miss a scheduled Friday night dinner with relatives.
So...the first Italian stop of our train is Brennero. This is not our final destination. Should I try now to find bus transportation? Does a railway strike literally mean that the trains will not be running, or does it mean delays?
I would be hugely appreciative if anyone could suggest how to handle this. Thank you for any help you can offer.
