Do you need a car in Lipari Sicily?

There are frequent buses that run till late at night in summer. There are also local rental agencies for scooters and cars.
If you go in summer, non residents can ferry a car into the Aeloian islands only if they stay at least 7 nights. All others must leave it on the Sicilian mainland.
