Do we need timed-reservations for Florence Palazzo Pitti?

We're planning to spend 2.5 days in Florence and have booked a private tour in the morning for the Uffizi. We're thinking of crossing over the Arno and visiting Palazzo Pitti in the afternoon of that same day. Does it make sense to purchase a reserved-time entrance to the Palazzo Pitti, or can we just prebook a regular (untimed) ticket and arrive at our leisure after finishing up at Uffizi and having lunch?

As far as I know, there are no "untimed" tickets for JUST the Pitti online.* If you want to visit the Palatine Galleries, the online ticket is "Galleria Palatina, Galleria Arte Moderna" on the b-ticket site, and purchase is by time slot. Timed entry reservations are also mandatory at least one day in advance of a Saturday or holiday.

That said, I'm guessing you'd probably be fine buying walk-up tickets, or just book the next open slot via phone en route to the museum. This museum is usually not as heavily visited as the Uffizi or Accademia; a fair amount of tourists never even make to the south side of the river. One warning, though? Having done both the Uffizi and Pitti, I think you'd be on very serious art overload trying to do them both in one day. The Palatine Gallery ALONE is 28 rooms. Add the rest of the Pitti museums (minus the gardens, which requires a separate ticket) and even this art lover was cross-eyed about halfway through - and we hadn't already tackled the Uffizi that day! 😳

(asterisk above) There is an option of a combo ticket called the "PassePartout 5 Days" that would allow you to visit the Pitti without a time slot but it includes the Uffizi as well - which you do need a timed entry for, and the entry is, I'm sure, already covered by your tour. It wouldn't make economical sense to purchase it for what you're trying to do.
