Do taxis at Fiumicino accept credit cards as form of payment?

Hi,
My other half and I will be arriving on June 1st at Fiumicino, to start two days later the Rick Steves South of Italy tour and we are planning to take a taxi from the airport to our hotel in Trastevere. By any chance do you know if the taxis accept credit cards? we are planning to go to the ATM after we do our check in at the hotel in order to get some local currency.
Thanks.
Blanca

BUT, but, but ........ They are suppose to BUT check prior to entering the cab that their credit terminal is WORKING. This is one of the reasons, I always have a hundred euro in my pocket on arrival even if I have to buy it at currency exchange and pay 10%.

We always arrive with some local currency and a few coins.
Just makes sense

We hand the taxi driver our hotel address and 50 euros and we are on our way,

Get some euros thru your bank or AAA before you go-150 ( 50 for taxi)
Get more once there but no need to fiddle with that right away.

Taxi drivers are one of the most active lobbies against making credit card terminals compulsory for shops and businesses; of course because card use makes tax dodging more difficult. So check that your taxi takes cards before boarding; if not, take the next one.

They have to do it. Is compulsory for any seller (even taxi!) accept the credit (or debit) card for every payment.
Of course they could use an excuse to don't accept it: in this case take the next taxi.

Ask before you board. They always find an excuse for not accepting cards (like the POS machine is not working). Not only do they do so to dodge taxes, but also to charge you more. The flat fare imposed by the city is €50, all inclusive, but they will try to charge you more if you pay cash (like for the luggage, which is included in the flat fare). They do so in order not to leave an audit paper trail since you could complain to the city if you are charged more. If you decide to pay cash insist in getting a receipt and get the taxi license (displayed on the car).

Do not pay cash. Show your credit card before getting on. Take the first cab in the line whose device is miraculously working.
Locals do the same, don't feel guilty.
