Do I need to purchase a Gli Uffizi Museum Ticket in advanced for July 9th?

I will be taking the family to Florence and we plan to see the Uffizi but not exactly sure of the date. Most likely July 9th , a Sunday. Do we need to purchase ahead of time or best to reserve it online now? Not sure how crowded it gets there in July.

When I was in Florence last September I made time entrance reservations for everything I wanted to see. I think there was a line for same-day tickets, but I would not count on it.

Best to check your options on the website.

As soon as you have the date set I’d reserve tickets. You’ll avoid some of the line, but there will still be a lot of people in the museum (and in the reserved line).

I’m going for the first time in November but from what I’ve learned you don’t have to pre-purchase your tickets but you’ll likely have to stand in a very long ticket line. I’m told people can wait 1-2 hours just to buy tickets in peak season. It is highly recommended to get your tickets online. This way you can skip the ticket line and go to the entrance line, which is much shorter and you’ll be given your ticket, then go through security and you’re in! When you do this, you’ll have to reserve a time for your entry and you can only be 10-15 minutes late. So you not only need to know what day you’ll be going but also what time. Again, you don’t have to pre-purchase but if you don’t, you risk wasting a couple hours in line, in the heat.
