I haven't been to Italy in many years. We prefer a paper map to google maps. Do hotels in the major cities still provide cheap tourist maps?
Or can you recommend a good map for us to purchase?

We have used the Rough Guide map for Venice and is good. Also check out the Moleskine City Notebooks. Pocket sized, with a good map, street index, and info like museum opening times. They are a great memento of your trip.
