Trying to gauge the time and distance from the Naples airport to the ferry station to Capri? Are we safe to pre-purchase ferry tickets or buy them when we arrive at the ferry terminal?
It’s less than 5 miles, but on surface city streets, going through the city center, therefore the time is heavily dependent on traffic, which in Naples can be a nightmare. So a taxi can take anywhere between 20 min to 50 min or even more on a bad day. But the other issue is flight arrival. Planes don’t always arrive on time, for a reason or another. I would buy once there.
Its 1.5 hours by bus, 30 minutes by car, and about 8 km.

Arriving in Naples, (this is a small airport), you will have in most cases already have gone thru immigration and passport control. So your exit from the airport will not take much time. The easiest way to reach the port is to take the Alibus. It runs every 30 minutes and is €5.
Exit the airport, walk across the parking area to the bus stop across the street. The ride to the port is 25-30 minutes. Timetable below.

Purchase your ferry tickets when you arrive at the port.
Your other option is a taxi, €25, but it could take longer, as the bus has a designated lane.
Taxi rank is to your right and across the street as you exit the airport. Stay on the sidewalk while walking to this area, cross ONLY at the crosswalk.
Thank you all very much!
