It was suggested that we just buy a cheap phone when we get to Italy to use while we are there. Our USA phones do't have an international plan. We will be in Italy and PAris for 3 weeks
Once you buy an unlocked cell phone (which you can get on ebay or amazon) you need to buy a chip for whatever country you are traveling in. You can buy a chip at a cell phone store. Phone stores are located in any city center. Majoy Italian companies are WIND and Vodaphone. A chip will cost you like 5-15 euro--that normally includes some minutes. You can buy more minutes at phone stores or tabaco shops.
And the question is?
Ooops the question is- is this easy to do- and where would we go to buy one?
eBay, for one. Used unlocked cellphones can often be had for $10 or so. Or try posting an ad on Craigslist.
