discounts on rooms offered through your guidbook

I am doing some early planning for a 2015 trip to Italy. I am using a 2014 book. It often sites a discount on a room if you show the 2014 book when you register. Only problem is that I'll be traveling in 2015 and you don't update the book until 2016. Will the discount in the 2014 book hold for my 2015 trip? Meg

Hi, Meg. Those discounts are at the discretion of the hotelier and are reconfirmed every year. You should ask hotelier when you book by email, phone, of fax. While you are marking up your favorites now in the current edition, you will have to check a later edition for updates. The next edition is due out in October of this year. Significant updates are also posted online at http://www.ricksteves.com/europe/italy/guidebook-updates.
