Discounts for Young People

I am reading contradictory info on different Italy sites regarding discounts for young people to museums, etc.. I just read 18 - 25 year olds can get discounted entry (not specifying where they are from) and other sites state discounts are just for Europeans.

We are traveling with an 18 year old.

Also, when we bought Colosseum tickets online they did not even ask for age, price was 14 euro (12entry plus 2 fee) each.

All State museums and archaeological sites are free for those who are younger than 18, wherever they come from.

EU citizens 18-25 years old pay half price. The Colosseum is State owned and the official site asks if you want a full price ticket (14 Euro), an half price ticket (9.5 Euro) or a "free" one (2 Euro as booking fee).

Non State and private museums follow their own rules and you must check website by website.

Also, if you are going to a sight with discounted or free admission for your 18 year old, have the passport ready to prove age.
