discount tickets to the vatican for kids

Will a regular U.S. middle school or hi school id work to get the discounted price for students and what about an elementary student who does have any id except a passport?

The elementary student won't need any I.D. and the middle school or high school I.D. will be fine. You can purchase the tickets online before you go but be sure to bring their I.D. with you to qualify. Donna

Just to reassure you, in all our travels in Europe with our kids, including at the Vatican Museums, nobody's ever asked to see the kids' passports to verify age for discount tickets. (But of course we had them just in case.) The most they've ever done, when the kids looked near an age cutoff, is to ask how old they are. And, FYI, except for the bigger places, such as the Vatican Museums, the Uffizi etc., ticket people were quite lenient about providing discounts. They'd often provide them even if it was clear that our kid was not an EU resident (a requirement for some discounted tickets); in a couple of places, they just let the kid in for free. Don't count on it, but it was nice when it happened.
