I am contacting this hotel to book a room. In an older edition of your Italy book you indicated that by mentioning Rick Steves, one can get a hotel discount. Is this still the case? How/where do we mention this- in an Email to the hotel prior to booking the reservation?

The "Rick Steves rates" should be similar to prices in the current edition of the book - 138 euros single, 215 double, 260 triple. Do make the request when you make the reservation, either by email or if there's a note space during the online booking process. They may ask to see your guidebook when you arrive.
