I want to book the Original Venice Walking Tour and the R.S. book indicated that his readers get a 10% discount on these tours, through tours-italy.com. However, the discount code is not listed, does anyone know how to use get these discounts?

Have you tried booking and mentioning Rick Steves and the discount amount? Most discounts he mentions are simply done by showing his book or mentioning his name.

We are trying to book things ahead, on-line - not actually talking to anyone and I can't find any promo code in the book.

We booked a tour in Florence online and had the same issue. We simply asked about the discount in the comments/questions area of the webpage and were promptly given the discount for the tour in a return email. If there is a similar section on your tour site, you may try doing the same thing. Good luck!
