Disappointments so far on my trip

In Florence,

Santa Croce - the supposed statue of Michealangelo in the Duomo didn't look at all like Charelton Heston.

Ufizzi - Not one picture by the artist Andy Worhol and his most famous Italian work, the Chef-boy-ar-dee can.

In Pisa,

Just because I suggested they should fix that silly tower, they kicked me out of town!

John,
When you get to Rome, see if you can find out when they're going to get the Colosseum finished. My wife and I will be there in a month and wanted to see if they were going to have any good rock concerts there.

In Rome go to the top of the Spanish Steps just before sunset and watch the sunset over St. Peter's and city. It was a wonderful suprise for us. That is if the sun always sets for you.

Speaking of the colisseum, since there are pictures all over of how it originally looked - clad in white travertine marble, etc. why don't they restore it?
Everyone has seen the ruins, already, the place needs sprucing up.

I FOUND IT!!!

I have been to Europe three times previous, each time failed to find my favorite work of art. Been to Ufizzi, Accadimia, La Louvre, Dorcey, Borgasie, without finding my hearts masterpiece. I vented my frustration to co-travelers and tour guides but they simply laugh, mock, or stare off in unattached disbelief.

Then on my fourth trip I'm window shopping at Piazza Tassio in Sorrento and it catches my eye. Could this be it? A closer look confirms that this is what I've been searching for. At a wood carving shop in Sorrento I have found what has taken eleven years and most of my children's inheridence. Bathed in the soft late afternoon Italian sunlight I have found a hand carving of "Dogs Playing Poker".

Do you know where I might find my next heart's desire??!! "Dogs Playing Pool"

In Venice.....

When I asked how long it takes the streets (canals) to dry out so the cars can drive there.....
