We are flying to Rome and plan to take the train to Florence. I read online that there is now (as of Dec 2014) a train that takes you directly from the airport to Florence (no need to first take the express into Termini). Has anyone taken this train? If so, where would we go in the airport to catch the train? Also, the train leaves at 3:08 (15:08) pm. If we arrive at 1:10 (13:10) pm does that leave us enough time if we only have carry on luggage?
If your plane lands on time, you have a good chance of making it. If not, then just make the connection at Roma Termini. Trains to Florence are every 30 minutes.
There is just one Stazione/Railway Station at Rome FCO airport, and signs will use those terms.
If everything clicks, you are fine. But two years ago in Rome on a Saturday morning in May it took over two hours to clear passport control. And we have previous done it in less than hour. It just depends.
