Hello all, any suggestions for a good pasta carbonara within walking distance from Piazza Navona?
You could try a few of the following. The first one is from the Rick Steves Rome guidebook. The second two are from a search of different reviews I could find online.
Ristorante del Fico
Ristorante Pizzeria “da Francesco
Cantina e Cucina
Trattoria Fiammetta
I hope this helps some
Armando al Pantheon. http://armandoalpantheon.it/i-menu/completo/
Thank you for the replies, I'll definitely have a look at those. We ended up at one of the recommendations in the RS guide book, Cul de Sac, and we're less than pleased. No Carbonara on the menu, but we gave it a shot anyway. Light rain tonight, so we didn't want to venture too far.
Rick's restaurant recommendations are hit-and-miss, in my experience.
Uninviting staff, and microwaved pasta dishes...it should definitely be removed for the list for sure.
It took us awhile to figure it out, but Cul de Sac is a wine bar that serves food, not a restaurant with wine. Their strength is pate, salumi, and cheeses. We like it for lunch or aperitivi.
The first time we ate at Cul de Sac we thought it was very good but the second time dining there was very mediocre. The meal we had at Armando (our second time there also) near the Pantheon was very disappointing and not worth the cost. In the Campo Fiori area is Ditirambo and we had a great meal there--it was mentioned in Bon Appetit recently.
