We will be taking the 17 day Italy trip, on September 5th.
We are wondering what the average group dinner times are? I know Italians eat rather late in the evening, but im not sure about group dinners.

I don’t know about Rick Steves’ group dinners (others will chime in) but most Italian restaurants open at 7:30pm or 7pm at the earliest, so if dinner is at a restaurant, dinner will likely be no earlier than that.

When we were on the VFR RS Tour pre-Covid, we found the dinners lasted a few hours, as the courses aren't rushed. We were not accustomed to finishing up dinners so late, so that was an adjustment. I believe this is the Italian way.

Average dinner start time for the RS tours we've been on is 6:00 - 7:00 pm. It varies day to day based on when you arrive at your hotel (giving you time to check in and freshen up first, etc,) if something is planned for the evening, and what the restaurant can accommodate.
