Another couple, my husband & I will be staying in Levanto for a few days in June. We are staying at Villa Margherita Levanto. The day arrive is the wedding anniversary of our friends and we want to celebrate by dining at a nice restaurant on or near the water. We like nice, but friendly and homey - not too fancy. Any suggestions?
My husband and I ate at Tortuga, in Monterosso, last week and had our best meals while on a 2 week Italy trip. It sits up on a cliff so perhaps walk by early in the day to gage the fanciness of it for you. Reservations recommended.
I completely agree! We ate at Tortuga in Monterosso 2 weeks ago, and it was one of our best meals in Italy. (Steak with grapes and seafood pasta = fabulous!!) Definitely make a reservation, I would recommend to look online for sunset times and book around then (sunset is behind the hills, so it actually "sets" a little earlier than the prescribed time. Book, and youncan show up early if it suits your schedule, they will have the table waiting! It's so beautiful to sit there with your wine up on the sea cliffs, and watch the sun go behind the hills, and see the fisherman laying their nets on the sea! Request a good seaside table (although inside was totally adorable as well!), and say hi to the cute kitty-cat with the spikey-collar that comes meowing for dinner scraps! Have fun!!!
